Residencial Colonia Libertad is a development that unifies communities on both sides of the border through housing and commerce. Located just steps from the pedestrian port of entry into Mexico in one of Tijuana’s oldest neighborhood, Colonia Libertad, this site is the location of a proposed 12-unit development with a mix of long and short-term rental units could support a trans-border lifestyle for working class residents crossing the border daily to work in the U.S. and for temporary visitors coming south to receive medical services. With over 100,000 people crossing the San Ysidro border daily to San Diego, and roughly the same amount crossing southbound to Tijuana, this project looks to the past and future of what is a constantly changing and active bi-national region.
